Methodology and results of objective comparison of observed climatology and his-torical trends in extremes of temperature and precipitation with results of numerical experiments on simulation of the XXth century climate are considered. Exprimental climate realizations of five coupled models of atmosphere and ocean contributing to the 4th IPCC Assessment Report were used. Effect of ensemble (including multi-model ensemble) approach in modeling of climatology and climate changes in annual meteorological extremes is assessed. Positive effect of ensemble approach is found when the individual ensemble members are successful enough.
