| Abstract: |
These data will be used to initialize regional climate model simulations for the Great Lakes region of the United States. Regional climate simulations are needed as input into Terrestrial and Aquatic Ecology simulations currently under development in the Department of Biology, College of Science at the University of Notre Dame.
Previous investigations involved the "downscaling" of global climate model data for the Great Lakes region. Future investigations require greater spatial and temporal resolution to more clearly define the local impacts of climate change on aquatic and terrestrial species. These studies will also focus on the migration of invasive species and adaptation or extinction of various species in the region.
Multiple models, such as the CMIP3 dataset, also provide the opportunity for us to perform ensemble modeling of regional climate change impacts.
