| Abstract: |
| The goal of the proposed research is to investigate the influence of global climate anomalies on precipitation and water cycle variability in west and central Asia and explore the potential for enhanced predictability. State-of -the art observational datasets and re-analyses will be exploited to document the relationship between seasonal climate anomalies in west and central Asia and interannual to decadal global climate variability during the 20th century. We also want to investigate climate and precipitation changes in the region which may potentially occur in the context of 21st century global climate change based on the newly available IPCC scenario simulation, comparing results from a variety of models. |
