Change in fresh groundwater resource in coastal aquifers based on the movement of freshwater-saltwater interface

| In this research, I plan to study the change in fresh groundwater resource in coastal aquifers based on the movement of freshwater-saltwater interface in the aquifer. I already developed a model to analyze the movement of freshwater-saltwater interface in coastal aquifers based on sharp interface concept. The modeling process concludes that the factors like hydro-geological properties of the aquifer, groundwater recharge, sea level change affect the movement of freshwater-saltwater interface in coastal aquifers. The effect of climate change (mainly precipitation and temperature) on the groundwater recharge and the effect of the recharge on the movement of saltwater-freshwater interface in coastal aquifers will be analyzed in my study. Also the effect of sea level change on the movement of freshwater-saltwater interface will be analyzed. The study will be conducted in the global scale. |
