The Role of the Annular Modes in Hydrological Cycles

Currently, there is much interest on the climate impacts of the annular modes. Regarding the influence of the annular modes on the hydrological cycle, the understanding is fairly incomplete, especially when it comes to the relationship between the annular modes and evaporation, river runoff, soil moisture and
atmospheric moisture content for example.
In this study we will use an atmospheric general circulation model to investigate the response of the hydrological cycle to annular mode variability, the mechanisms involved and the seasonality. |
