Abstract:
For NOAA's Global Programs office, we are preparing a science plan for the newly configured CPPA program. Before we can propose a field campaign to study the effect of the Western Hemisphere warm pool on the monsoon systems, we must have a clearer idea of how and where the existing AGCMs need to be improved for predictive purposes. We wish to use the IPCC AMIP runs to perform a diagnostic assessment of model performance against observations and reanalyses in and around the warm pool region.
