Instructions for Model/Experiment Documentation in AMIP II

AMIP II Modeling Group Representatives:

The accompanying template should be used to submit your group's AMIP II model/experiment documentation for eventual publication on the World Wide Web (see work in progress). Note, you do not have to fill out all sections of the template, only those pertinent to your group's model/experiment, as follows:

All groups need to fill out those sections of the template pertaining to:

Some groups whose AMIP II model differs from the most similar AMIP I model must also supply: Note, you need not fill out any sections of the template pertaining to features that have remained the same as those in the most similar AMIP I model. For current summary documentation of the AMIP I models, see Web address

http://www-pcmdi.llnl.gov/projects/modeldoc/amip/01toc.html

As we gain more experience in documenting the AMIP II models/experiments, some future "fine tuning" of this template may be desirable--in that event, modeling groups that have not already submitted their documentation will be notified. Suggestions for improving the documentation template are always welcome, and may be sent to Tom Phillips (phillips@pcmdi.llnl.gov).

Obtaining the AMIP II Documentation Template

We can most readily produce Web documentation of your group's model/experiment submission if it is completed in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). If you are comfortable working in HTML, you can either

    1) Use a Web browser to go to the template, then save it as a local HTML file (by use of the "save-as" option that is usually included under the browser's File Menu).

    or, if you prefer,

    2) Download an HTML version of the template by anonymous ftp at address

    sprite.llnl.gov/pub/phillips/amipdoc/doctemplate.html

You then should be able to import this file into an HTML editor to complete the necessary documentation.

As an alternative, you may complete a plain-text version of this template obtained by anonymous ftp at

    sprite.llnl.gov/pub/phillips/amipdoc/doctemplate.txt

Returning the Completed Template

Please return your completed template by electronic mail to Tom Phillips (phillips@pcmdi.llnl.gov). After undergoing quality control to ensure the accuracy/consistency of the documentation, and following a reinspection by your group, we will make it accessible to all on the Web.
