Aside from its use of coarser horizontal resolution, the atmospheric component of the MPI (ECHAM1 + LSG) coupled model differs from AMIP model MPI ECHAM3 (T42 L19) 1992 chiefly in the following respects (cf. Roeckner et al. 1992 for further details):
